Michael Paprocki founded the New England Divorce Education Center, LLC with a vision of providing individuals and families with creative and healthy choices for divorce. With 16 years of experience, he possesses a solid understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges faced by separating and divorcing couples.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Applied Social Relations from Eastern Connecticut State University and graduate studies in counseling psychology, Michael has guided more than 600 separated or divorcing people. He has facilitated numerous divorce support groups, lectures, workshops, and seminars on divorce throughout Connecticut. He has also been involved with family initiatives at the State level.
In 1999, Michael added mediation to his list of services. He attended The Center for Family and Divorce Mediation in New York City, and then completed follow-up training with the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, and the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation.
Michael has also trained with internationally recognized divorce therapist, Dr. Bruce Fisher to facilitate the seminar, “Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends.” Additional divorce education concentrates in couple and core communication – a technique and framework for effective ways of talking and listening. While he prefers a low-key, safe and facilitative mediation tone and format, Michael will increase directive and evaluative approaches where necessary.
